Nutti's muses

I read little bits of everything.  My mystery preference is cozy.  I enjoy science fiction, but do not have a science background.  And I'm a hobbit from wayback before I was old enough to vote.

One Crazy Summer

One Crazy Summer - Rita Williams-Garcia I loved this book. Delphine is 11 going on 12 flying out to see her mom in Oakland CA from Brooklyn. Her mother had left her and her sisters when her younger sister was just a baby. 1968 Oakland is a very different place than Brooklyn. Delphine and her sisters get fed breakfasts at the Black Panthers community center as well as attend their summer camp. This is a great historical fiction novel about a very turbulent & misunderstood time in American history. The characters live on in your head even after the book is closed.
