Nutti's muses

I read little bits of everything.  My mystery preference is cozy.  I enjoy science fiction, but do not have a science background.  And I'm a hobbit from wayback before I was old enough to vote.

The Cat Dancers: A Novel

The Cat Dancers - P.T. Deutermann The latest Margaret Peterson Haddix is interesting. When Tessa goes to an assembly to honor her neighbor Gideon, a war hero, he declines the medal. The country has been at war for 75 years. There is a very intense propaganda machine. All resources are devoted to fighting the war. The characters were not as developed as I expect from Haddix, but I was reading a prepub. She does borrow parts of the book from 1984 and Ender's Game . Good book to read as part of a curriculum to think about war, military propaganda, and our militaristic mindset. Despite the subject matter this is a clean read. Eprepub provided by the publisher.
