I read little bits of everything. My mystery preference is cozy. I enjoy science fiction, but do not have a science background. And I'm a hobbit from wayback before I was old enough to vote.
Ok, this maybe one of my favorite books of the year. Mayer's Cinder reminds me of Haddix's Ella in Just Ella , but Cinder is a much stronger person. Cinder is looked down on because she's part cybernetic due to an accident as a child. She lives with her stepmom and two stepsisters in New Beijing. Cinder is known as a fixer of all things electronic and this is how she supports her family. It is this skill that brings the prince out to find her when his Nanny droid malfunctions. This is a delightful read for anyone who likes their female characters strong and able. Also a must read for any Browncoats out there.
